Mighty robin redbreast
Sitting in his tree
Watching Mary weeping
As sad as she could be.
He flies down to the greenhouse
With redbreast all a-flame
He whistles out to call her
Calling out her name:
Mary my wife, Mary my love
You must not weep anymore
I will always love and protect you
Now and forever more.
She looked up from her wringing hands
She saw him standing proud
Her heart leapt at the sight of him
Blowing a kiss, she said aloud:
There you are my precious love
Where on earth have you been?
I’ve missed you oh so very much
As all the world has seen.
As mighty as the robin was
He could not bear to see
The love of his life sat there weeping
So he flew off to hide in his tree.
