I banned myself from the telly,

Many moons ago.

I barely watched it anyway,

Aside from a couple of shows.

Simpsons at Six,

With a half hour to kill.

Watch the News ’til Eastenders,

Then switch for The Bill.

Two ‘n half hours,

Every weeknight.

Cartoons and cockneys,

Having a fight.

Drama here, murder there,

Marriage then break-ups galore.

Someone’s depressed, someone gets punched.

And we keep coming back for more.

I see people around me, all acting this way.

I wonder if there’s a connection.

I stopped watching the telly years ago,

And now I don’t have that reflection.
