Plateau – A Tale
Plateau is a work in progress. It is a tale of gods and mortals, plots and betrayals and humanity and retribution. Using ancient Sumerian texts from ~2000BC, it also incorporates reworkings of the original stories told. Set in both ancient and modern times, it focuses on the relationships and motivations of the people of the age. For She is the Tale and perfect in every way.
It’s the first time I’ve ever actually tried writing a book and somehow, from somewhere cough it’s reached over 20,000 30,000 40,000 words. It’s been a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I recommend it heartily to everyone. I now have it planned by chapter through to the end; so I hope that it doesn’t disappoint anyone who may be following. My writing is worse than Azad’s.
It should be around 55,000-60,000 words in total before I take it away, edit it to hell and back and rewrite all the bits that my wife frowned at. Currently, it’s about 2/3rds complete.
The full text as a work in progress is here.
The text by chapter can be found here.
If you have a spare moment, I’d love opinions.
There are also a small selection of short stories found here: Tall-ish Tales (Short-ish Stories).
On… Non-fiction articles
I also write a lot of guff on non-fiction; about news, politics, psychology and cognitive science, philosophy, history, whimsy and swearing horses walking into bars.
The non-fiction articles can be found here. May God have mercy on your eternal soul.
Bad horse jokes and awful philosophy are here.
Sermons (Rants of a Rubber Nun)
If you need a break from Pitchforkin’; which even he does quite often, there’s a new section from Rubber Superior called Sermons. They be found here.
