Abandonment and unification.
Left face down in the sun scorched grass was Sally. My wife sat on a bench watching, waiting for someone to come and love her. Pick her up and take her home; forgotten by mistake, abandoned in a moment of careless flux.
Over an hour my wife watched. Sally didn’t move; rooted to the spot, face to the floor.
Nobody came.
My wife walked over and rescued her; she passed her onto me.
Sally needs a new home and friend. She currently resides in my teaching bag and will unconditionally love the first child who needs her.
