Joe (100 Word Story #38)

Mummers Tales (Polzeath, Cornwall, UK)

The high street was jam packed with locals and the invasive influx of sunseekers. Colours overwhelm; ROYGBIV balloons floating above smiling faces, sunburn in glorious hues of bruised vermilion.

One colour stood out, the orange bib a homeless man was wearing. Walking over, it has been some time since I bought a Big Issue and I had to ask the current price:

It’s £2.50.

Joe currently lives at a temporary lodge. He stands on the streets selling the magazine to make money so he can try and rebuild his life.

Mine was the sixth copy bought all day.

£15.00.

Help them build.
