The people of Sumeria finished their rites and celebrations then staggered off back to the Dancing Cockerel. Kubaba led the way and the king held the door open for everyone.

Good manners came naturally to the people of Sumeria.

Heduana waited until the king had entered the inn and closed the door before addressing the ones who had stayed behind.

They surrounded her in a tight circle, all eyes able to keep watch in all directions.

“Usual place; usual time; usual tools.” Was all she needed to say.

With an imperceptible nod, they all departed.

There were witches in Sumeria.
