100 Word Recipes – Cottage Pie

Brown off some mince*,

As you’re making some mash.

This dish is similar,

To Potato Hash.

 

Cheap and filling,

Northern stodge,

Great for poor people,

With hunger to dodge.

 

Chop onions and carrots,

Fry off as well.

Add to the meat,

Savour the smell.

 

Add water if dry,

If runny add flour,

Then cook on medium,

For a good half hour.

 

Place in a dish,

With room to spare,

Pile on the mash

We’re almost there!

 

Shove in the oven,

On number five,

Dish up and serve,

In twenty five.

 

*For Cottage Pie use beef, for Shepherd’s Pie use lamb.
