The Serpent slid forth, into the night; out of sight on this moonless dark night.
Unto a tavern in town did it snake; to listen, from boggy cistern, to what said villagers spake.
‘To peace and delight;’ came the cheer to the moonless dark night.
‘To love and good company;’ heard the Serpent cloaked in subtlety.
Hiss! I said Hiss! There is something amiss! Happiness in good times and splendid companions? O the Queen shall not miss this! Hiss!
The Serpent did slide, glide to the ear of Her Majesty; the Queen’s side.
Together they plot theft,
Exit stage left.
